We are in Poitou and it feels like late summer but it is really spring. We were on the road and there was so much dust being stirred up by the other pilgrims. I was walking on the ground with a shirt over my face to keep me from breathing in the dust. We were in a drought and we needed water. Behind mud walls were barking dogs warning all the pilgrims to keep away. Thomas didn't care we needed water so he braved the angry dogs to ask for some water. He bought some water at very high prices from peasants armed with spikes. They must have thought it was our fault for the drought by the way they were acting. In four days we will be in Bordeaux! Still in France but closer to the shrine of St. James!
